María Sol Naranjo and Andrés Torres are representing Ecuador in modern pentathlon at the 2024 Paris Olympics. They competed in the individual event and now await the semifinals.
On Thursday, August 8, both athletes took part in the fencing event. However, the semifinals, incorporating more disciplines, are scheduled on different days for each athlete.
The remaining events to determine their final placing include horse riding, fencing, freestyle swimming, and the laser-run. Each event accumulates points that will ultimately decide their final position.
Andrés Torres will compete on Friday, August 9, at either 6:00 or 10:00, depending on his group. María Sol Naranjo will compete on August 10 at either 6:30 or 10:30.
María Sol Naranjo made her pentathlon debut as the youngest athlete in the Ecuadorian delegation at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Despite initially ranking eighth, she finished in 33rd place at the end of the competition.
Andrés Torres finished in 22nd place in the fencing event, achieving 16 wins and 19 losses. While not entirely satisfied with his performance, he remains confident in his preparation for the horse riding event and aims to reach the final.
